The Road to Santiago.

El Camino de la Costa

Dudley arrived in Santiago de Compostela on Saturday, November 13, 2004. On Sunday, World Diabetes Day, he attended the pilgrim service at the cathedral, and then met with the Compostela Diabetes Association which had a large booth in a major square promoting diabetes awareness. He presented them with a CD of his Web site journal from his 2002 camino. They were excited to meet him because they knew of the Web site, having used parts of it to convince their diabetic members that an active life doesn't end with a diagnosis of diabetes.

Dudley's apologizes for not keeping the site up-to-date during the 2004 camino. After two months on the road, Dudley needed a mental break. Now, after Thanksgiving, the journal will be completed and all photos will be posted.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, if you have contributed financial support to Dudley's project, he thanks you very much. He couldn't have done it without the help of his friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers.

Expenses have exceeded the estimated budget of $25 per day because there were no inexpensive albergues at the beginning of the walk near San Sebastian. In addition, the dollar was weak against the Euro. The poor exchange rate meant that daily expenses were more than expected. Currently, he still has some obligations to meet.
